Clemento Suarez

Clemento Suarez is one of the funniest and most versatile comedians of Ghana's new generation, a stand-up performer and actor known for his rubber-faced physical comedy and his gift for impersonation.

Early life and education

He was born Clement Ashiteye in Tema, to a family from Teshie. He trained formally in performance, graduating from the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana in 2010, a grounding that shaped his disciplined, character-driven comedy.

Career

He began his career around 2011, doing unpaid work before committing fully to professional comedy. He collaborated with creative directors including Latif Abubakar on stage productions, and became known for a high-energy style built on impressions, physical comedy and sharp characterisation.

Screen and stage

He featured in the popular Ghanaian television series Kejetia vs Makola, and became a mainstay of the country's live comedy circuit, one of the acts credited with reviving stand-up comedy in Ghana. His nominations at the Ghana Comedy Awards reflect his standing among the best in the field.
