Early life and education
He was born Derick Kobina Bonney on 3 September 1985 in Accra, to Ga-Adangbe parents. He discovered his love of entertainment at St John's Grammar School, performing as a dancer and rapper, before his comedy took serious shape at the University of Ghana.
Rise in comedy
His stand-up career took off after he proved himself at a campus event, and his profile grew significantly when he represented Ghana on the reality show Big Brother Africa in 2012. The veteran satirist KSM has described him as a new king of Ghanaian comedy, a mantle he has worked to earn on the live circuit.
Comedy Express
He is the creator and owner of Comedy Express, one of Ghana's biggest recurring comedy shows, which he launched in 2016 and later took virtual during the pandemic. Through it he has provided a platform for Ghanaian comedians and helped grow the country's stand-up culture.
