Nana Kwame Bediako

Nana Kwame Bediako, known widely as Cheddar, is one of Ghana's most flamboyant and ambitious entrepreneurs, a real estate developer turned politician whose wealth, vision and self-styled pan-African message have made him one of the country's most talked-about businessmen.

Early life

He was born on 13 February 1980 in Asokwa, in the Ashanti Region. He has spoken of a childhood marked by contrast between his father's affluence and his mother's struggles, an experience that fed his entrepreneurial drive. Seed money from his father, invested in a small poultry venture, was his first taste of business. He was educated in Ghana and the United Kingdom, including at the University of Westminster.

Business empire

He built his fortune in real estate, founding the Kwarleyz Group and developing high-end projects including the Kwarleyz Residence and Wonda World, as well as the proposed Petronia City. His luxury developments and his personal brand, sometimes under the name Freedom Jacob Caesar, made him a symbol of Ghanaian ambition.

Politics

In 2024 he entered politics, founding the New Force movement and running for president. At 44 he became one of the youngest presidential candidates of the Fourth Republic, and placed third among thirteen candidates, an unexpectedly strong showing for a political newcomer.
