Nicholas Duncan-Williams

Nicholas Duncan-Williams is widely regarded as the father of the charismatic church movement in Ghana, a pioneering archbishop whose Action Chapel International helped transform the country's religious landscape and who is known worldwide as the Apostle of Strategic Prayer.

Early life and conversion

He was born on 12 May 1957. His path to ministry began with tragedy and transformation: after losing three fingers in an accident, he was evangelised by nurses at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra and gave his life to Christ. He was later baptised in the Church of Pentecost and trained for ministry at Bishop Idahosa's Bible college in Nigeria.

Founding a movement

Returning to Ghana, he founded Christian Action Faith Ministries and Action Chapel International, widely credited as the first charismatic church in the country. The church grew into a global ministry with branches across North America, Europe and Africa, and helped usher in the wave of charismatic Christianity that reshaped Ghanaian worship.

Influence

Known as the Apostle of Strategic Prayer, he founded Prayer Summit International and became one of the most influential religious voices in the country, with a profile that extends internationally; in 2017 he offered prayers at the United States presidential inauguration.

Standing
