Camidoh gave Ghana one of its biggest international crossover moments in recent years. A smooth Afropop and R&B singer with a gift for a hook, he turned a single song into a continental phenomenon that put his name on the wider African map.

Early life

He was born Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie on 21 January 1994, hailing from Aflao in the Volta Region. He was educated at Bishop Herman College in Kpando and later earned a marketing degree from the University of Professional Studies in Accra, discovering his passion for music as a teenager through artists like Akon and Chris Brown.

Career

He signed with Grind Don't Stop Records in 2018 and released his first single, For My Lover, featuring Darkovibes. He built a steady following with his blend of Afrobeats, R&B and Afropop before the song that would define his career arrived.

Sugarcane

His single Sugarcane became a runaway hit, and its remix, featuring Nigerian stars Mayorkun and King Promise alongside Darkovibes, turned it into one of the biggest African songs of its year, charting across the continent and drawing international attention to a Ghanaian artist who had been building quietly.
