Isaac Dogboe

Isaac Dogboe became Ghana's youngest ever world boxing champion, a whirlwind fighter whose aggressive style and colourful ring walks made him one of the country's most exciting recent exports to the professional game.

Early life

He was born Isaac Zion Dogboe on 26 September 1994 in Accra and moved to London at the age of seven, growing up between Ghanaian and British worlds. Boxing ran in the family, and his father, Paul Kofi Dogboe, would become his trainer and manager.

Amateur and Olympic career

He represented Ghana at the 2012 London Olympics at just seventeen, the youngest boxer at those Games, a sign of the precocious talent that would define his career.

World champion

Nicknamed Royal Storm, he won the WBO super-bantamweight world title on 28 April 2018, stopping Jessie Magdaleno in the eleventh round in Philadelphia. At twenty-three he became the youngest world champion Ghana had ever produced, carrying on a proud national boxing tradition.

Later career

He lost the title in a rematch and rebuilt at featherweight, earning further world-title opportunities, including a 2024 eliminator against Nick Ball. He retired in 2026 after a thirteen-year professional career, finishing with a record of 28 wins and four losses. Isaac Dogboe remains one of the most accomplished Ghanaian boxers of his generation.
