Yvonne Okoro

Yvonne Okoro is one of the most accomplished actresses to bridge the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries, a versatile performer and producer whose mixed heritage made her equally at home on both sides of the border.

Early life

She was born on 25 November 1984 in Tamale, to a Nigerian Igbo father and a Ghanaian mother. She studied at the University of Ghana, earning a bachelor's degree, before committing fully to a screen career.

Acting career

Active since 2002, she built a strong body of work across Ghallywood and Nollywood. Her talent was recognised with the Best Actress award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards, and she earned back-to-back Africa Movie Academy Award nominations for Best Actress in 2011 and 2012 for her roles in Pool Party and Single Six. She has also won multiple Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.
